Hey all,, the thing that is most important I have found is that we play,, 19 months ago when guildwars first came out ( not the beta ) I was involved with one of the biggest fps guilds at the time. A bunch of us when guns were boring play'd d2. We had heard that a splinter group was releasing a new game called GuildWars. Well, on its release we all bought and started to play the game and found it to our tastes and formed a guild by pooling our gold as it was expensive at the start (hehe). After about 4 months the guild fell apart as peeps lost interest when the game was beat and the only thing to do was pvp or farm. Out of 20+players there are only 2 of us left. The 2 of us had to leave the guild as the guild leader was a no show for 2 mths. So we started a new guild (JakL) but we did not recruit it was "yo can I join you as I don't have a guild and you helped me out alot" As I don't kick peeps and all are officers "all chiefs lol" we now have an active crew of 3, no logs 6, up to 10mths,,with alot of peeps moving to bigger guilds, lol" We have tried different guilds and found them disbanding or rosters like ours after a time" But like the one guy/gal above we put a smurf acct. in charge of our org. guild while with another, so we have never been capeless.
In the 19+ months of play regardless of being in or out of a guild your gonna get an invite from someone hehe. One of the best ways to avoid a, I need you now but leave you later is let the recruiter know you will add em to f-list and you can tell if it is gonna work for you or not as by how often they are online as you are. If so then join thier vent or ts an play with em awhile. Then make the choice. But I like the idea (with the release of factions and the concept of alliances) as now the little guy 1+ can align with another. Cause everyone likes a little alone time "sometimes" during play, working on this or that. Even with Vent or TS only one person can talk at the one time in a channel. So with a long story the moral is you can't please all the people all the time find something that pleases you and become flexable. |

Sigils are only 7.5 p now :-)
I was in a pretty decent pve guild at one time , then went to play some other games for a bit, after that i just stayed by myself, I could have went back to my old guild , but really didnt feel like it .Got tired of the tells asking to join others though. My simple answer was always politie no thanks. Finally made my own and made a cape, then broke down and got my self a hall too. Im happy , plenty of characters and campains to play :-) |

Hehe, I'm in a 1-man guild right now. I used to be one of the lead officers of Fox Hound Unit/Fox Hound Soldiers. We joined the Section Five alliance a month or two after I joined the guild. It didn't last a long time, eventually everyone except the loyal officers of FHU/FOX went inactive, and we got kicked. I got a lot of invites to lame guilds that just didn't sound too fun. I got sick of being bugged every time I went into a town, so I formed a guild, got a cape, and bought a hall.
Eventually I got bored with being the leader of an empty guild. Now, I log on every few days to remember the good times, and try to recruit. But everyone wants a high-ranked guild with lots of members. I guess I'll just have to keep trying, or maybe I'll just resign, and try to join a guild. |

my boyfriend and I so totally did this. I was sick and tired of people asking me to join their guild >_> I wasn't sure anymore if it was a compliment to my playing or just the fact I was a girl character (i got more invites than my boyfriend obviously).
so we made a guild for ourselves and it provided another channel for us to talk through Then his brother came back from his slumber and he joined the guild. then one of my long time online pals got GW and he's in. I'm hoping to get another friend of mine to get back on GW :O so it's really just a little tiny guildie o-o that I paid for cos I'm the rich on of the bunch..xD |

Interesting thread
Anyway right now I'm currently in a small 3-man guild that was started by me and another really close friend of mine. We always played online games together and I actually got him to play Guild Wars. We were in many guilds together but always found that a lot of them tend to break the promises they make during recruitment such as having many active and helpful members. Sometimes I'd be in one of these guilds and not even have a single person say a simple hello whenever I greet the guild in the guild chat (even when there were several people on, including leaders and officers lol). Once this same friend of mine convinced me to join a guild that a couple of his real life friends had made. I agreed to it and it went well for about a month or so. It was a exclusive PVP guild and we did pretty well. Got rank 200+ and made a few HOH (or HA as it's called now ) victories. Unfortunately I started to realize that these guys were a bunch of morons and jerks a lot of the times. Whenever on our vent server they'd always act like a bunch of immature toddlers. Eventually I decided to leave because even my friend got fed up with it. I think they ended up disbanding a couple months later lol. I don't know if I'm just too picky or what but after all these same experiences I decided that I'd just make a little guild made up of my IRL friends who play. Unfortunately I only have two that are interested in the game XD. Also these two rarely play anymore so its gotten quite lonely. I'm trying to convince them to get back into it. Not really successful yet but hopefully I will be as time goes by and maybe even get some of my other friends to play. It does get lonely at times and kinda tough not being able to type up in guild chat if you need a few extra people for that really tough quest or mission. Though I like not being disturbed when I play. Most of the time I don't even have that much time to log on or be dedicated to one of those bigger and more well-established guilds. I've heard some of your ideas of just making an alliance of small guilds and I'd be interested to join any of these alliances that may already be out. If you want to contact me about this give me a pm on the forums or something. Oh and btw I'm currently Luxon alligned but maybe willing to switch . |

I created a one man guild (Apocalypse Apparatus) for conveniece. I have the ability to change sides from kurzick to luxon anytime I want, host any scrimmage and invite guests for self promoted tournaments for prizes, and join any AB. That and the hall is fully stocked from a month of hard work for NPCS. No guild politics and no drama. And I don't recruit. Somehow I find solo playing more enjoyable since the release of heros.

Anyways, I am a very social person, and I like to talk, so I'd be lonely all by myself. And since I have this view of things, I also believe that people enjoy talking and being a part of something. I can't see why you would want to be alone O_O no offense meant at all. I'm not a powerhouse of a recruiter, but when I see somebody without a guild in my group, he either becomes another respected member in my guild or a buddy on my friends list. Don't get me wrong, I remember them all(cause I'm L33t like that ). I know some people like their privacy, but there are others that enjoy finding their place, and I find a lot of the guildless people in this position. |

I got really lucky and was given a guild with an almost complete hall from a guy in kaining that was tired of trying to sell it. so i redid the cape and when my best friend started playing guild wars i recruited him, and now i can teach him everything i know without other guildies bothering him about being new.
We joined an alliance with a larger PvE guild and if we ever get annoyed with them we can leave without losing our guild. |

I once made a guild to just get away from the "Hi, you are going to join my guild now or I will do the male Warrior /dance !" and other /slaphisface invites to guilds.
Seriously, people just come up to random people and try to recruit them. COME ON, if you want to recruit players, go out there and do missions/quests, team up with people, ask a guildless person who you've been playing with for a couple of times to join your guild, but don't just go to some random guy/girl and say 'Join my guild?'. I mean, if you're going to say that, atleast try harder.. -Ayumi |

My guild has only 6 members in, and our alliance has 6 guilds with all around 10 members each in, they are all very funny and mature and you can have a good laugh and you're not pressured to recruit.
Slowly I'll start recruiting people, lol. |

I did have a guild with only me in it, to escape the mass recruiters. It was called Empty Guild [Solo]. I disbanded it for a joke (don't ask).

=D After getting to amazingly angry at how ignorant and mean some people can be to me (and that I hate megalomaniacs when it comes to capes where the guild votes and the leader rigs the poll) I made my own guild with a decent cape. I was alone until I invited my best friend, who is currently at my house. Yay.
We're mature in the fact we type legibly and don't rant about other people's boobs. [if you don't get that last part, join a big alliance for a week] |

Yup! Made it in July 06. Called it I Like Jumpers [WARM]. Really I just wanted to design my own cape, then thought I'd have it for those who also just wanted a cape and do not want to be active members at all. Eventually I got me sigil and saved over time to get the important NPCs and made my partner and a friend captains (the friend went back to WOW after the trial weekend). I invited a few people, but they left quickly for mysterious reasons (I guess that happens with an obligation free guild!). Now we just use it as a convenient and quiet place to shop, empty our inventories and take turns designing the cape. |

Well, as an update to my post on this thread back in October, the accident has happened. My guild has grown to 7 people.
Now I have to learn how to manage a guild. |
